Cases are settled on National Lok Adalat Day

Pobitra Chakraborty: Women empowerment is one of the objectives in the vision of NALSA. To commemorate the achievements of women in different fields, Sanghamitra Chatterjee, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Howrah has, under the aegis of State Legal Services Authority, WB and guidance of Shampa Dutt (Paul), Ld. Chairperson, DLSA, Howrah,  organized National Lok Adalat on 12.03.22 consisting of 9 benches, especially the one with only Women Judges namely Suparna Bandopadhyay (ADJ, FTC 2nd Court, Howrah), Soma Nandy (Lady Advocate) and Dr. Shelly De (Pandit) (HOD, Commerce, Bijoy Krishna Girls' College, Howrah) towards observance of the International Women's Week (08.03.22 to 12.03.22). The said National Lok Adalat has been successful in disposal of about 1641 number of pre and post litigation cases through out the District of Howrah including SDLSC, Uluberia, so as to minimize the burden of the Courts of Howrah. Toal amount recovered is Rs. 4,26,75,044 on above mentioned cases.

Besides, the Sub-divisional Legal Services Committee, Uluberia has arranged a bench in this National Lok Adalat comprising of Bhaskar Bhattacharya (Ld. Additional District and Sessions Judge, 1st Court cum Ld. Chairman, SDLSC, Uluberia), Sk. Rejaul Karim (Ld. Advocate) and Santosh Kumar Giri (Transgender Social Worker) to symbolize zero discrimination.
