1916 - Indian politician, scholar, activist and thinker of right-wing Pandit.Deendayal Upadhyaya was born(25 September 1916 – 11 February 1968). He was part of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and leader of the political party, Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJS), which later became Bhratiya Janata Party (BJP). He death was reported under very mysterious circumstances in Mughalsarai Junction railway station in February, 1968.
 
1920 - Sri.Satish Dhawan,  an Indian mathematician and aerospace engineer was born (25 September 1920 – 3 January 2002). Dhawan was one of the most eminent researchers. He lead the country to successful and indigenous development of the Indian space programme. He was third chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in 1972.
 
1990 - Third Chief Minister of West Bengal Sri. Prafulla Chandra Sen passed away (10 April 1897 – 25 September 1990). He was nationalist, politician, freedom fighter, and a staunch Gandhian.
 
2011 - Wangari Muta Maathai passed away(1 April 1940 – 25 September 2011). She was a renowned Kenyan social, environmental and political activist and the first African woman to win the Nobel Prize in 2004.
