1582 – The Gregorian Calendar, also called the New Style Calendar, was introduced by Pope Gregory XIII, and over the following centuries numerous countries adopted it. Now, this is the primary calendar of the world.

1824 – Mexico adopted the constitution and became a federal republic.

1830 – After the successful revolution, Belgium took a legal form with a constitution of the provisional government and complete separation from the Netherlands.

1957 – The Soviet Union launched Sputnik 1, the first artificial satellite, which orbited Earth until 1958, this inaugurated the space age for humankind, and heightened Cold War competition between the U.S.S.R. and the U.S for space glories.

1931 – Legendary Bengali and Hindi playback singer Smt. Sandhya Mukhopadhyay was born. She received Banga Bibhushan Samman, the highest civilian honor in the state of West Bengal in 2011, other than many other awards and recognitions.
