1708 – Tenth Sikh Guru, a spiritual master, warrior, poet, and philosopher and founder of the Khalsa, Sri Sri Guru Gobind Singh was attacked and assassinated by Mughals. He finalized and enshrined the Guru Granth Sahib as Sikhism's primary scripture and eternal Guru.
1950 – Foundation day of Missionaries of Charity.
1952 – Russian colonel secret service agent, politician, Prime Minister, and President Vladimir Putin was born.
1987 – Pakistan-backed Sikh fringe elements declared the independence of Khalistan from India; it is not internationally recognized and their terror activities were crushed by Govt. of India.
