Shiva - The Dancing God

Shiva - The Dancing God

One of the most interesting researches in today’s world of science is called “God particle”. Scientists had called it by this name. However, in physics, it is actually called the Higgs-Boson (Boson from the title of Dr. Satyendranath Bose). It is the search of the primordial particle. The particle from which, the universe has its origin.

The main center of this study is in the suburbs of Geneva, Switzerland. Official name CERN, founded in 1954, the CERN laboratory is in the Franco-Swiss border. It was one of Europe's first joint ventures which now has 23 member states. CERN is also known to be the birthplace of the “World Wide Web”.

In front of the main facility of the CERN, the largest physics laboratory in the world, an idol of “NATARAJ” (A dancing form of LORD SHIVA) can be seen there it was unveiled on  18th June 2004 and is called as The CERN Shiva. Why religious idols in science research?

In 1975, the world-famous scientist Fritz Capra said that according to physics, Shiva's dance is the vibration of super-atomic matter. He writes in his book “The Tao of Physics”  According to quantum field theory, the dance of creation and destruction is the basis of the very existence of matter. Modern physics has thus revealed every subatomic particle not only performs an energy dance but also is an energy dance; a pulsating process of creation and destruction. For the modern physicist then, Shiva’s dance is a dance of sub-atomic matter the basis of all existence and all-natural phenomenon. The dance of Shiva is the dancing universe, the ceaseless flow of energy going through an infinite variety of patterns that melts into one another.

As the research progressed, scientists realized the significance of this. They felt that the mystery of the creation of this universe was hidden in the symbol of Nataraja Shiva. The Nobel Prize-winning scientist Erwin Schrödinger, once mentioned, "The multiplicity is apparent". This is a doctrine of the Upanishads. And of the Upanishads only. The mystical experience of the Union with God regularly leads to these views, unless strong prejudice stands with the West.

World-renowned scientists like  David Bohm, Eugene Wigner, Robert Oppenheimer, Niels Bohr, Carl Sagan, Nikola Tesla all had made many statements had spoken about the ancient wisdom.  Their statement - the Upanishads say that consciousness is the best answer to the vibrating universe and the smallest particle.

Robert  Oppenheimer wrote: What is being found in modern physics is a reflection of ancient Hindu wisdom.
Danish physicist and Nobel laureate Niels Bohr was fascinated with Vedas. His remark, “I go to the Upanishad to ask questions,” reveals a lot about his respect for the ancient wisdom of India.

Today, scientists have erected a statue of Nataraja in front of CERN, the world's largest physics laboratory and one of the most important research centers in modern science. But how are Western scientists interpreting the Nataraja? Their interpretation has some very strong and striking resemblance with the Hindu scriptures.

On his upper right hand, he holds the Damru (hand drum with the sound of ॐ), which represents creation and time. His lower right hand is in Abhaya Mudra or blessing pose. His upper left-hand holds fire, the symbol of destruction, while his lower left hand is raised near his chest with his palms facing down. This symbolizes the mastery of meditation and enlightenment. His right leg is placed on a demon named Apasmara, which denotes the end of ignorance. The skull over his head denotes conquest over death.

Scientists say that no one knows what energy is. Abstract, object-neutral. Without energy, the universe is just an illusory particle that has no permanent existence. These particles are rising from the quantum field, merging again. Creation and destruction (Damru and Fire).
So what's up? Scientists say that the field is unexpressed or pre-space. Because there is no sky, no time. Nataraja dances when embodied or manifested, but in the meditative state of the unspoken (then he is Shiva) Nataraja's braid is scattered. What does this mean? This is how David Bohm explains - the universe is unbroken, Each object is connected to the other. The quadrangle is said to have two hands of Nataraja. The other two hands, one looking up and the other down, dancing. That is, death seen from below (in worldly view), but birth from above. You see death, destruction, but it changes form. There is no loss of energy, no creation, science says. Natraj is highlighting this fact. The original unexpressed field (field in the language of science) is fixed but taking various forms.

That is why there a mix there in religion and science in CERN, the largest physics laboratory in the world. Religion might not be logical to some, but Sanatan Dharma which is also known by the name of Hinduism has proven to have serious science behind it.
