Civic polls will be peaceful in Murshidabad: Firhad Hakim

State transport minister and the observer of the TMC for the civic body election in Murshidabad, Firhad Hakim on Tuesday said no trouble will take place in Murshidabad during the poll and the people of this district will cast their vote peacefully in favour of Mamata Banerjee.

On Monday Hakim arrived in Murshidabad with a tight schedule of election campaigns in the 7 civic bodies of Murshidabad. On Monday he held rallies at Dhuliyan, Jangipur and in Beldanga. On Tuesday he is scheduled to hold 4 rallies. While talking to the media, Hakim said, "The Congress has lost its old turf in Murshidabad. So, the Congress leaders have started crying about foul play."

He said, "Everyone has seen how the voters of Bidhannagar, Siliguri, Chandannagar and Asansol have peacefully exercised their right of suffrage in favour of the TMC. In the assembly election of 2021 in the presence of the CAPF the TMC candidates won from 20 seats of Murshidabad district. The same tradition will continue in the municipality election."

He said, "The Congress has lost its old turf in Murshidabad. So, they have already raised allegation of foul play. I believe the people of Murshidabad will again show their trust on the TMC candidates and will be a part of the development."

It can be said that after the last date of nomination submission in several places of Berhampore the Congress candidates and activists have faced attack. In every case the Congress has raised allegation of terrorising voters against the ruling party.

On the other hand Hakim once again said that the culprits behind the death of Anish Khan will not be spared. He said, "If police went to the house of Anish and involved in his death, the accused will have to face trial in the court. I am again appealing to the father of the deceased to keep faith on Mamata Banerjee and her administration. The SIT- formed by the Chief Minister will find out the culprits. CBI will not conduct an impartial probe."

It can be said that Anish's father has several times told that he has no faith on state police. He has demanded the probe of his son's death either under the supervision of court or by the CBI.

Hakim said, "The apex court has already said that the CBI has become a 'caged parrot'. Mamata Banerjee has already intervened into the matter and we are conducting an impartial probe. I want to tell the family members of Anish that the opposition parties will be with them only for few days but Mamata Banerjee and the TMC will be with the family forever."
