State will pay attention to develop carpet industry

For a long time, the carpet industry has almost reached the bottom without government support. It is one of the traditional industries of West Midnapore district. Therefore, the state is going to pay special attention to the development of carpet industry.

This time the carpet industry was included under the 100-day work project. And this decision will be announced during the Chief Minister’s visit to Medinipur on May 16.

This decision of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will benefit more than 5 lakh people of the district.

Even the rest of the state’s carpet artists will be brought under this project.

It was also reported that the Chief Minister will present various infrastructures worth around Rs. 1,000 crore for the overall development of the area at this year’s administrative meeting.

Gita Bhuiyan, wife of state minister Manas Bhuiyan, wrote a letter to the Chief Minister to include the carpet industry in the rural employment project, citing the plight of the carpet industry.

Manas Bhuiyan became vocal in the Rajya Sabha from the Legislative Assembly on this issue. This time it is going to be implemented.

According to sources, Mamata is going to present 132 new projects to West Midnapore, including news, foundation stone laying of new projects and inauguration of infrastructure.

As a result, the whole district including Jangalmahal will be further developed.

In this regard, the MLA said, 80 per cent of the people are involved in the carpet industry.

Millions of people will smile at this historic humanitarian decision of the Chief Minister.

This time job cards will be given to all those involved in the industry.

The department of technical education has organised a job fair on May 25 in the district.

Sources said that the Chief Minister can also announce this job fair.

The goal is to ensure the employment of at least 4,000 men and women. The foundation stone will be laid for the Laharichak and Kadamtala sluice drainage capacity enhancement project on the Kapaleshwari river dam. The three-and-a-half kilometers concrete bridge from Kharika-Eral to Sundarpur Kathpul and four kilometers from Mohini Bazar to Masumpur on the Kapaleshwari River embankment will be inaugurated.
