Release date
An announcement video in December 2025 revealed the release date as 2 October 2026, which coincides with Gandhi Jayanti. The date carries weight for fans: October 2 was an important part of Vijay’s original alibi in the first film. The makers have promoted it as “Drishyam Day.”

- Jaideep Ahlawat plays SP Rajveer Singh Tomar IPS, a new police officer who will come up against Vijay.
- Prakash Raj plays a Public Prosecutor. He joined after Akshaye Khanna’s exit from the project, and he has said he is not replacing anyone.
Director and production
Abhishek Pathak returns as director and also has a producer’s credit. The film (see its Wikipedia entry) is produced by Panorama Studios and Star Studio18, with Kumar Mangat Pathak among the producers.
The story so far
The franchise began with the 2015 Hindi Drishyam, a remake of Jeethu Joseph‘s 2013 Malayalam original, the first film in the Drishyam series. Vijay, a cable operator and film buff, protects his family after his daughter accidentally kills the son of a senior police officer. He builds an alibi from the movies he has watched.
Drishyam 2 (2022) jumped ahead several years and showed that the family’s secret still weighed on them. It ended with Vijay ahead of the law but at a heavy moral cost. The new film is expected to deal with the impact of those events and push the story toward a final confrontation.
Runtime and certification
Reports say the CBFC cleared the film without a single cut. It runs 8 minutes longer than Drishyam 2.
Different from the Malayalam Drishyam 3
The Malayalam Drishyam 3 came out first. Jeethu Joseph wrote and directed it, Mohanlal stars, and it was released on 21 May 2026. IMDb has its listing, and Wikipedia lists its box office at ₹237.70 crore. Ajay Devgn has said the Hindi film is “completely different,” so viewers of the Malayalam version should not assume they know this plot.
The two series also diverge on endings. Malayalam producer Antony Perumbavoor has confirmed plans for Drishyam 4, while Ajay Devgn and producer Kumar Mangat Pathak have drawn the line here, which makes this a true conclusion for the Hindi franchise.
Why the franchise works
Vijay is an ordinary family man who wins by out-planning the system. The films ask you to root for him while feeling the weight of what he has done. A final chapter with a sharper police officer and a prosecutor is a natural escalation.
