The Akshaya Patra Foundation, for example, has been cooking and delivering hot meals to displaced families from its Jorhat kitchen since late July, at the request of local district administrations, while other organisations, including the Assam Foundation of North America, have been raising emergency funds to supply groceries and essential goods to communities in Upper Assam.

Ananya Birla, born in 1994, is the eldest daughter of industrialist Kumar Mangalam Birla and a sixth-generation member of the Birla business family. She sits on the boards of Aditya Birla Group companies, including Grasim Industries and Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail, where she has a hand in the group’s digital and consumer businesses.
